CartaLog · Last updated: July 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the CartaLog mobile application (the “App”) handles your information. The App is designed to keep your personal data on your own device.

Summary

The App has no advertising, analytics, accounts, or behavioral tracking. Your core collection data remains on your device unless you explicitly export or back it up, or use an identified contribution or feedback feature. Automatic date-code contribution is enabled by default and can be disabled in Settings. The App also accesses the internet for cover images and optional external links, as described below. Camera scanning and Float Mode processing remain on-device.

Information We Collect

The App does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide profile information, and it has no analytics, advertising, or behavioral-tracking components. It sends the limited date-code contribution and feedback information described below. Network requests also necessarily expose IP address and related network metadata to the service receiving the request.

Your Collection Data (Stored On-Device)

Information you create in the App — such as your game collection, component details, linked barcodes, and notes — is stored locally on your device in a private application database. It is not sent to the app operator except through the identified date-code contribution and feedback features described below. If you uninstall the App, Android normally removes this private local data.

You may explicitly export or share your data and choose its destination. Local auto-backup through Android’s Storage Access Framework (SAF) is off by default. If you enable it, you select a folder offered by a storage provider; how that provider stores, syncs, or handles the backup is governed by the provider. App settings may also participate in Android platform backup according to your device, account, and Android backup configuration.

Camera

The App can use your device’s camera only to scan a game barcode when you open the scanner. The barcode is read on your device and matched against the App’s local game database. Camera images are not saved, stored, or transmitted anywhere. If you choose to link a scanned barcode to a game, only the barcode number is saved locally in your collection database.

Screen Capture (Float Mode)

The App includes an optional feature called Float Mode, which identifies which game is shown on your screen (for example, in a marketplace listing or video) so you can find it in your collection. Float Mode runs only when you start it yourself and grant Android’s screen-capture consent. While it is running, it uses the system screen-capture (MediaProjection) service to read frames of your screen, which are analyzed entirely on your device — matching the on-screen image and text against the App’s local game catalog.

Captured screen frames are processed in memory and immediately discarded. No screen content is recorded, saved, or transmitted off your device, and none of it is sent to us or any third party. Only the resulting match — which game in your catalog was recognized — is shown to you in the App. While Float Mode is active, an ongoing notification and a floating on-screen indicator are always visible so you know capture is in progress. You can pause or stop it at any time; Android’s screen-capture consent is single-use, so capture also ends when you lock your screen and must be explicitly granted again to resume.

Internet Access

The App uses an internet connection for these purposes:

Third-Party Services

The App does not include third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or behavioral-tracking SDKs. Third-party interactions may involve cover-image hosts, PriceCharting or eBay in your browser, Discord for date-code contributions and feedback, a storage provider you select for backup or export, and Android platform backup for eligible settings. Each third party handles information under its own terms and privacy practices.

Permissions

Children’s Privacy

The App is not designed to collect age or profile information and contains no advertising. The date-code contribution and feedback features operate as described above regardless of the user’s age; children should use the App and send feedback only with parent or guardian guidance.
